‘Without a strong Israel, there is no stable Middle East,’ Gantz says
Israel’s Defense Minister and Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz called upon the Palestinians to go back to the negotiating table with Israel.
The remarks were made at Thursday’s Knesset (Israel Parliament) session focused on the ratification of the Israel-UAE peace treaty.
“Our hand is extended, it’s about time for Palestinians to join the journey of peace,” Gantz said, addressing the lawmakers.
He said he expected the Palestinian youth to play a major role in the peace process.
Gantz also touted Israel’s strength, both military and economic, as the key factor enabling the normalization with the UAE and expressed his gratitude to US President Donald Trump for brokering the agreement.
He touched upon the regional agenda as well, warning that Israel will not allow Iran to flood the Middle East with weapons after the international conventional arms embargo on Tehran expires.
“Without a strong Israel, there is no stable Middle East,” Gantz asserted.
